Santa's Workshop
Can't do any better than Santa's Workshop in Sunriver at Christmas time. The text below is an excerpt from a recent newsletter sent by our on-site property managers. Sounds like fun.

Gingerbread Junction

Come take a stroll down Cinnamon Lane and see the largest collection of gingerbread houses in the Northwest. Over 100 of these extravagantly decorated home sweet homes will be on display in the Village. You can even join in and decorate your own gingerbread cookie! A pastry chef will provide the cookies and the icing, so you and your family can get straight into the decorating and let your holiday creativity fly."

Grand Illumination 2009
Our property managers recently sent us an e-mail reminding us of this holiday event next week. We're not going to make it this year, but maybe someone else can.
"Grand Illumination- The Grand Beginning: November 27th, 2009
Watch as Sunriver lights up and the season kicks off with the Grand Illumination- Central Oregon's biggest holiday light display! The evening will feature free sleigh rides, live music, a magician, holiday characters and a special Warren Miller movie, 'Dynasty.' The merriment begins with hot chocolate, holiday treats and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The official commencement is 4pm, with sleigh rides from 4 - 7pm, and admission is FREE!"

Morning Bike Ride
There's nothing better than a morning bike ride in Sunriver. The fresh, cool air and beautiful views are unmatched. If you go early enough, you'll likely cross paths with more deer than people.
I suggest starting just as the sun is rising. Plan your route ahead of time as the paved pathways could take you in a direction you don't want to go. Sunriver Resort has a good map online and you can always find a map on the property. I usually start at the south-end by Harper's Bridge and ride along the Deschutes around the airport, past the meadow and Sunriver Stables. From there head to Cardinal Landing, making sure you take the trail that follows the Deschutes, not through the residential area.
If you do come upon walkers on your ride, slow down and say "on the left" as you slowly pass. Maybe even throw in a "good morning"...because, it is always a good morning in Sunriver.
